Essay on the Design Argument for God Free-Sample for Students

Question: Compose an Essay on the Design Argument for God. Answer: The Design Argument for God The plan contention is shown for introducing the experimental contentions on the presence of God. The contentions endeavor to perceive the various kinds of observational highlights that manage the protected proof of insightful plan. These plan contentions are additionally named as innovative contentions that incorporate telos, the Greek expression of direction. As indicated by Elliott (2017), the structure contention incorporates the three significant parts. First is the reason that demonstrates the presence of a portion of the observational property. Second is the sub-contention that characterizes the influential idea of the observational plans that includes the proof and the smart reason. The third one is the reason, which finishes up likely clarification for the way that is shown known to man (Bailey and OBrien 2014). This particular examination paper will talk about the proof based investigation introduced by the popular logicians. Fuse of the philosophical view would make the ex ploration paper a lot of instructive. It is to be demonstrated that the plan contention is one of the three significant contentions about the presence of God. The other two contentions are the cosmological contention and the ontological contention. The structure contentions, as introduced by Elliot Sober, are characterized into twp various sorts, for example, vast and organismic (Glass and McCartney 2014). As per his clarification, the organismic plans are for the most part concentrating on the perception of the versatile highlights of nature wherein they show the delicacy. Then again, enormous plan contentions incorporate the observational highlights that are worried about the whole universe, complying with the basic laws (De Cruz 2014). Calm characterized that the astronomical structure is steady and it allows the life to exist in an appropriate manner. The discoursed introduced by David Hume in concerning characteristic religion mirror the cosmological contentions. The presence of consolidates and Clarke in his contention is speaking to the idea based clarification. He expressed, Whatever exists must have a reason or reason of its reality; it being totally unthinkable for anything to create itself, or to be the reason for its own reality. In mounting up, hence, from impacts to causes, we should either go on in following an unending progression, with no extreme reason by any stretch of the imagination, or should finally have plan of action to some extreme reason, that is essentially existent ( Bailey and OBrien 2014). The contention delineates that there is difficult to depend on a limitless progression of the circumstances and end results by disregarding a definitive reason. Hume additionally clarified that the contentions are proceeded since this neglects to give a specific motivation to the easygoing chain or a whole arrangement (De Cruz 2014). By introducing a conflicting contention, Elliott Sober referenced that the analysis of Hume would lose the nibbles if the contentions were not analogical (Nieminen et al. 2017). Obviously, the plan is to some degree dazzling that can be contrasted with the logical elaboration of Orgel, Evolution is cleverer than you are. The mechanical contention infers that on the off chance that the plan is suggested as the fashioner, at that point it tends to be construed that the universe is planned. The viewpoint of everydays life, it is noticed that the historical backdrop of earth is very unpredictable. The contentions introduced in regards to the presence of God, the maker. The smart plan is made by deciding the logical hypothesis. The separation between the smart plan and the poor structure guarantees the fitting contentions on the presence of the maker (Girotto, Pievani and Vallortigara 2014). The contention from poor people configuration is against the Gods presence. It presents the thinking that God would not make the life forms by seeing the imperfect plans pictured in the nature. In the creationism, individuals are slanted towards a few philosophical perspectives. They have the solid have faith in the presence of God. It is additionally accepted that the world is made in time of six that contains twenty-four hour in a day. The contention presents in the canny plan delineates that the world mirrors the proof of the logical nature where the God exists and He is the architect of the world (De Cruz 2014). The elaboration of David Hume delineates that the material universe is fairly taking after the smart creation in which the structure shows. It has been determined that the structures identified with the human antiques are relative to the plans made by the astute creatures. Henceforth, it very well may be construed that a keen maker has made the plans of the material universe. Darwins hypothesis of development is against the conviction of clever plan. Numerous logicians have confidence in Darwins advancement hypothesis accepts that many structure of the creatures and plants now and again bear the unquestionable mark of plan, which is made by a heavenly knowledge (Patrides 2016). Grandiose structure contentions incorporate the observational highlights that are worried about the whole universe, complying with the basic laws. Then again, the supporters of wise structure contended that neither human nor creatures could have associated with stepwise style if the heavenly insight doesn't exist. Truth be told, if any of the part is evacuated, it will stop the whole functionalities (Swinburne 2014). In this manner, the contentions present in the insightful plans have contradicted Darwins hypothesis of development, which portrays that the people, creatures, and common creatures are transformative changing with time. The contentions introduced on the side of Darwins hypothesis shout that means related with the advancement procedure exist in the record of fossil. Despite the fact that there is the presence of complex structures, it step by step shapes the transformative picture. Charles Darwins hypothesis of development incorporates the advancement by characteristic determination, which talks about the beginning of the multifaceted nature, adjustments, and assorted variety among the living animals of earth. Aside from Charles Darwin, numerous evaluates has even precluded the presence from securing God and upheld the hypothesis of advancement of the living animals in this world (De Cruz 2014). In introducing the counter contention, Sober characterized that the vast structure as the steady type of smart plan by God, the maker. Enormous structure contentions are subsequently including the observational highlights that are worried about the whole universe, complying with the straightforward laws. The Final Soliloquy Of Richard Ii Essay free essay sample

, Research Paper A Royal Contemplation: The finishing up monolog of Richard II Richard # 8217 ; s finishing up monolog ( Richard II, V.v.1-66 ) marks both the apogee of his transmutation from an indurate sovereign to a wonderful savant and his ethical ascent resulting from his affidavit as the King of England. In this scene, Richard is altogether, in a jail cell at Pomfret Castle, for the primary clasp in the dramatization. This privateness empowers him to reveal an illuminated, reminiscent familiarity supported and created since being liberated from the heaps and limitations that burdened him as male ruler. In any case, this monolog accomplishes more than reveal the inside functions of a writer King. Of the few maps and plans that this monolog has, none might be progressively clear as its capacity in the constitution of the scene for the of import expire scene. From his initial barely any lines, Richard shows that he is altogether, secured off a jail cell, and confined from every single outer impact. Richard slackly sums up the activities of the dramatization, explicitly Bullingbroke # 8217 ; s trespass of the seat and his ain decrease. Quite a bit of what he says portends his within reach expire. Be that as it may, it is just even with expire that Shakespeare uncovers the idea of the previous male ruler. The vast majority of import work that this change plays is to show the transmutation that Richard has experienced since discharging the Crown. He is not, at this point an indurate, self-included elitist, however is self-intelligent and idyllic. An early delineation of this shrewd use of semantic correspondence is the rooster illustration, which represents his recently discovered capacity to make words and sentences in a rich and important mode, and sets his encephalon and mind to induce thoughts. In spite of holding gave up the Crown to his cousin right off the bat in Act IV, the uncover of Richard is non finished until he has been detained for an extensive length of clasp with nil to make yet accept about the days gone by. In spite of whatever passionate or strict revelations Richard may hold experienced, unmistakably he laments his detainment. He expressly expresses that he wishes he could dig his way out, or # 8220 ; burst a change through my worn out jail dividers # 8221 ; ( RII, V.v.20-21 ) . Be that as it may, with is recently discovered clarity, he recognizes the uselessness of any such endeavor. Lamentably, the specific length of Richard # 8217 ; s purdah is obscure. Be that as it may, it is long bounty for Richard # 8217 ; s incorrect feeling that all is well with the world to be supplanted by the inverse and more shrewd demeanor in a vast expanse of # 8220 ; unsteady qualities, security, and happiness are past human influence # 8221 ; ( Reed 70 ) . He unmitigatedly concedes # 8220 ; no thought is placated # 8221 ; ( RII, V.v.11 ) . Richard # 8217 ; s simply happiness is of a negative request as he gets agonizing and helped by the acknowledgment that he is non the first to bear misfortune ( RII, V.v.28 ) . In bearing misfortune, work powers find # 8216 ; a kind of effectiveness # 8217 ; by recollecting that others have borne, or will bear, a similar misfortune. He more distant recalls when he was all the while King, yet can non cover the ongoing fortunes taking to his relinquishment/statement and is disheartened by these recollections. Progressively agonizing recollections from Richard # 8217 ; s late days of old are activated in this scene. He reviews the entirety of the # 8220 ; capacities # 8221 ; he has played in evolving evaluations, and how he has flopped pitiably at all of them. Consequently dramatization I in one individual numerous individuals, what's more, none mollified. Once in a while am I male ruler ; so lese majesties make me wish myself a homeless person, Thus I am. At that point abusing poverty Convinces me I was better when a male ruler ; ( RII, V.v.31-35 ) . On one manus, a King is attentive and frightful of # 8216 ; lese majesties, # 8217 ; while on the different manus, the homeless person is a casualty of # 8216 ; mistreating penury. # 8221 ; Earlier in the dramatization, he distinguished himself among the positions of removed and killed male rulers ( III.ii ) , yet here, he relates to the average folks, explicitly the panhandlers in the stocks, recalling Bullingbroke’s notice to the â€Å"Beggar and the King† in the old scene ( V.iii.80 ) . Further philosophizing, Richard surrenders his religion in reclamation. Also, recognizes the solitary flight that he would perchance be able to gestate is the territory of void, or perish. Only in perish will he be discharged from his discontentedness and harming. In his mind, perish is the # 8220 ; extreme and dry goal of being # 8221 ; Be that as it may, what e # 8217 ; er I be, Nor I, nor any grown-up male that however grown-up male is, With nil will be requests # 8217 ; nutrient D, till he be eas # 8217 ; nutrient D With being nil. ( RII, V.v.38-41 ) As he is facilitated by perish, ignorant of his ain close by predetermination, Richard is merrily surprised by the sound of music exuding from close by his cell. The music reestablishes request to his universe, a universe where he lost all build of clasp and world because of the inadequacy of outside impacts to fringe such a world. Presently he can keep up way of clasp, using the metered marks of the music. The music other than permits him to perceive how he made such huge numbers of mistakes. In any case, after being interfered with, Richard does non come back to his investigation of human discontentedness. The music incites Richard into a revery on the transcendentalism of clasp, a picture dispersed all through the dramatization. # 8220 ; I squandered clasp, and now cut doth squander me # 8221 ; ( RII, V.v.49 ) . He shows a substantial comprehension of what has made him a deficient male ruler, explicitly his ain maltreatment of clasp, which is practiced in three different ways, and an inability to recognize these abuses as a result of his pretentiousness. To begin with, he leaves for Ireland at a clasp when his significant activity is in his country and neglects to return place in clasp to rescue himself by smashing Bullingbroke # 8217 ; s insubordination. Second, he has illegally seized Bullingbroke # 8217 ; s legacy and disregarded the # 8216 ; standard rights # 8217 ; of Time. Richard # 8217 ; s third abuse of clasp has clearly been his # 8220 ; generous delight of his adulators, # 8221 ; or his unreasonable dispensing of cash when he should hold been keeping a reasonable removal. T he abuse of clasp has brought about an untended # 8220 ; English nursery. # 8221 ; This reviews a previous scene when the Gardener alluded to the Richard, whom # 8220 ; misuse of icon hours hath somewhat tossed down ( III.iv.66 ) . Richard at last acknowledges the obligation of his activities, at the same time, incidentally, the punishment for these abuses of clasp is the bondage to cut, which Richard # 8217 ; s detainment speaks to. The impact of this silly abuse of such an of import office has come about in Richard # 8217 ; s going nil more than a # 8220 ; numbr # 8217 ; ing clock # 8221 ; ( RII, V.v.50 ) . The occasions and obligations of England are currently in the authorities of other work powers, the # 8220 ; English nursery # 8221 ; has been halfway reestablished to request, and Richard is of no use to anybody and is at last killed as a result. Subsequent to creating his best poesy in the dramatization, Shakespeare gives Richard a confidence that was non present before. Richard is bound inside himself even as his natural structure is detained at Pomfret. However there is a tasteful pushed or desire, a recently discovered stylish sense of pride, in Richard. This is joined by Richard # 8217 ; s divulgence of his private highlights, including logical entrance and self-information. This mindfulness is showed in his polar aggravation with the music he was turned on by just a couple of lines previously: This music mads me. Let it sound no more, For however it hath holp maniacs to their marbless, In me it appears it will accomplish astute work powers distraught. ( RII, V.v.61-63 ) With another capacity to see the mix-ups in his manners, each piece great as his philosophical inquisitive of the universe around him, Richard is prepared to face perish in a baronial way. He may non hold accomplished completely fledged saint position in his transmutation, yet has without a doubt earned an evaluation of comprehension and respect from the peruser that was non conceivable before in the dramatization.

Governmental policy regarding minorities in society - History Governmental policy regarding minorities in society is characterized by Webster's New World College Dictionary as an approach or program for revising the impacts of separation in the work or training of individuals from specific gatherings. The expression governmental policy regarding minorities in society was instituted by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 when he gave Executive Order 10925, starting the President's Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity. In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson gave Executive Order 11246. This request required government temporary workers to take governmental policy regarding minorities in society to expand the quantity of minorities that they utilized. Therefore governmental policy regarding minorities in society was conceived. In any case, when Kennedy and Johnson built up governmental policy regarding minorities in society, they didn't mean for it to have the debased and contorted impact that it at present has today. Such corruptions and bends i ncorporate the employing of unfit laborers, the causing of issues for bunches it initially set out to help, and opposite separation that outcomes in unjustifiable norms into advanced education and the work power. The act of governmental policy regarding minorities in society must be halted. The principle contention for governmental policy regarding minorities in society is that it makes equivalent open door for individuals in the work power and for understudies looking for induction into advanced education. Be that as it may, this is anything but an admirable statement. While governmental policy regarding minorities in society makes equivalent open door for certain people, it oppresses others, principally white guys. In this way, governmental policy regarding minorities in society utilizes invert separation to take care of the issue of segregation. Do two wrongs make a right? The appropriate response is no. The principal reason governmental policy regarding minorities in society ought to be halted is that workers regularly are employed that are not able to execute their occupations viably. Commonly bosses are compelled to locate the best minority, as opposed to the individual generally qualified for the activity. For instance, an arrangement was embraced by Duke University in 1993 that necessary every division at the college to employ in any event one new African-American for a staff position (Pasour). In any case, different reviews and gauges show that under 4,000 blacks get Ph.D.s in the United States. This is under two dark Ph.D.s for each American school or college (Sowell). Thusly, Duke University's approach would constrain them to recruit workforce that are not as qualified, because of a deficiency of dark Ph.D.s, as their white partners. The recruiting of untalented specialists is adverse to organizations too. The basic role of a business is to bring in cash for the business, jus t as the workers. The recruiting of unfit representatives is hurtful to the business' creation. At the point when workers can't play out their particular undertakings, it regularly prompts blunder, which costs the organization time and cash. In the event that the business is ceaselessly paying for specialist blunder, its benefits will diminish, creating a lessening in worker pay. Commonly organizations are compelled to recruit inadequate people in light of quantities. Frequently when a business' standard isn't filled it is compelled to imagine superfluous employments for minorities, which is additionally diminishes an organization's benefit. Unable representatives are a disservice to laborer solidarity also. In the event that a representative isn't as qualified as their collaborator, it might make pressure and disappointment between them, thus making another inconvenience.. The second explanation it is basic to nullify the act of governmental policy regarding minorities in society is that it regularly starts issues for the minorities it initially proposed to help. This is evident in the work place just as in schools and colleges. The primary issue governmental policy regarding minorities in society sets up for minorities is that it puts a disgrace on bunches who profit by governmental policy regarding minorities in society, particularly the individuals who really win their position since they are equipped for it. Consider a business who recruits an individual from a minority bunch based on merit alone. Numerous workers naturally accept that the person's arrangement came about because of governmental policy regarding minorities in society. In this way, any representative who benefits from governmental policy regarding minorities in society bears the brand of not being the best pick, yet simply the best pick from a constrained gathering (Pasour). The seco nd issue it makes for minorities in the working environment is the loss of soul and imperativeness for their employments. On the off chance that laborers feel that the sole explanation they are utilized is to fill a quantity, they may need pride in their occupations, which thus prevents their presentation. Furthermore, minorities' issues due to

Taking Life for Granted in The Necklace, My Left Foot,...

Many people take life for granted every day. Many of the characters in the stories we have read often do this. In â€Å"The Necklace†, Mathilda does this by always thinking of herself and nobody else. My Left Foot shows how Christy Brown never takes his life for granted, and by doing this it helped him overcome his disabilities. In the story Our Town not taking life for granted is one of the main themes, such as when Emily dies and George becomes very upset about it. In the story My Left Foot, Christy Brown was diagnosed at the age of three with cerebral palsy. Many people began to give up on him, but his mother did not. She told everyone that they were all wrong and that he was a normal child. She worked with Christy every†¦show more content†¦She thinks that she deserves better and is too good for the life she has. She finally gets her wish one day when she is invited to a ball. She was very excited about it, but did not have the things to wear, so her husb and gave her money to buy a dress. She also went and borrowed a very nice necklace from her neighbor. While she was at the ball she had a great time, but when she went to leave she could not find the necklace anywhere. She went and told her neighbor and told her she would pay her back. In order to pay her neighbor back, her husband had to get another job and she had to get one herself. After ten years, she and her husband had finally saved up enough money to pay back the neighbor for the necklace. This story is ironic because at first she is a middle class women who thinks she deserves to be in the upper part of society, but at the end of the story she is in the lower class of society because her and her husband had to spend all of their money to pay back the neighbors for the necklace only to find out it wasn’t even worth that much. The story, Our Town, is about a boy and a girl whose names are George and Emily. They both grew up together in a small town called Grover ’s Corners, New Hampshire. My docu free essay sample

Unit plans and daily agendas and their connection to California state standards in American History will help keep all of us clued in on our progress. As a goal, I expect all of my students to become expert American historians upon completing my class. Knowledgeable historians go beyond memorizing dates and facts: they offer critical insight. I want all of you to be able to offer this critical insight. Your class assignments will help develop this kind of thought. We will work with our textbook throughout the semester, but it will by no means be our only learning tool. I plan on bringing in many outside sources such as videos, rimary documents that will help provide you with several different historical perspectives. Expectations: In turn, I expect you to use these outside sources to help support your views. We will embark on several projects this year that I hope will help you take an active role in the class. Some of these activities include: mint-dramas, group presentations, poetry poster projects I will provide you with information about these activities as the year progresses. Materials Used and Required: As stated above, we will use the textbook The Americans . You will receive your textbook from the Instructional Media Center and ust take full responsibility for the text. Your textbook will remain at home for the most part, though I will ask you to bring your book to class at certain times (especially our unit on the Constitution/Bill of Rights) during the year. Also, on a daily basis, please bring the following materials: pen, pencil, binder, and paper and a highlighter set with at lease 3 different colors. Notebook Requirement: A soft 3 ring binder is recommended for this class and may only contain work for United States History. You need to purchase dividers for this notebook in order to keep it organized and much more user friendly for you. The notebook will be divided into 5 sections (so you need 5 dividers) and we will set up our notebooks on Friday. Thus, you need to purchase a soft 3 ring binder by Friday. Wallmart, Target and CVS represent store locations where you can buy a binder for class. Part of your unit exams will be open notebook so organization and consistent maintenance of your binder will be an important factor in your success in the course. At the end of each quarter, you may remove past assignments and leave them at home in a place where you can locate them easily in the future when we prepare for ur cumulative semester final. Grades: Grading will be based on the percentage system, 89-100= A, 79-88= B, 69-78= C, 55-69=D, below 55=F. Your final percentage will be calculated from a weighted percentage of Exams, homework quizzes, group presentations, projects and other assignments will all count towards this grade. Student grades will be determined by weighted grades. Each category will have a value as follows: 0 Classwork 0 Homework 0 Projects/Essays 25% 0 Quiz Scores 0 Test Scores 35% Unit Tests: Often, we will have an exam at the conclusion of the unit we study. The est format will have sections consisting of matching, multiple choice or fill-in, and possible essay. Generally, the matching section will be closed notes and the multiple choice or fill-in and essay sections open notes. You will also receive a unit study guide a few days before the exam to help you prepare. Unit tests will have a value of approximately 200 to 250 points depending on the length of the exam and unit. Your tests will be challenging and carry a very important percentage value in determining your final grade. Cheating Policy: Cheating and dishonesty will not be tolerated in this lassroom. Put ideas and concepts into your own words when using resource material for reports. If you copy a source word for word, make sure you quote the source and cite where you found it. We will discuss this process more throughout the year. Do your own work on individual assignments. Cases of cheating and plagiarism will result in a score of zero points for that assignment and an out of class conference with you and your parents. Homework/late work: We will have homework throughout the year. Late work will be accepted for one day after the due date, but lowered to half Credit. After that day, no work on that assignment will be given credit. Homework holds a value of 20 points but can be used during the test as notes. Although homework does not have significant value up front, it will be very valuable to the test. Those with excused absences are allowed to makeup work without a penalty. You will receive one day for each day absent to make up missed assignments. After an absence, please come talk to me before or after class to receive the assignments and information you missed. Also, it is very important to note that students not present due to an unexcused absence or suspension cannot makeup issed work. Those sent to support room may make up missed work but you must come and see me after school on those days you spent in support room in order to be able to make up the work. District Board Policy 61 54 requires that I mention the following statement that the school board adopted in regards to nightly homework. Human Values And Ethics Vs. Philisophical Ethics Essays - Abortion

Human Values And Ethics Vs. Philisophical Ethics HUMAN VALUES AND ETHICS VS. PHILIOSOPHICAL ETHICS They had discussed it, but not deeply, whether they wanted the baby she was now carrying. I dont know if I want it, she said, eyes filling with tears. She cried at anything now, and was often nauseous. That pregnant women cried easily and were nauseous seemed banal to her, and she resented banality (p. 389 Alice Walker The Abortion). It could sound familiar to many of us. Either in personal life or while discussing and debating, whether during college courses or encircled by close friends, I am sure that each and everyone of us has come across with the issue of abortion, developing a distinct, individual opinion about that particular subject. What we think about abortion will be a function of what we think about sex, about reproduction, about the beginning of human life, about responsibility, about killing, about sexual equality, and about religion. Actually, there is little in life to which the issue of abortion is not in some way related. It is not surprising, then, that there is s o much disagreement about what abortion is and whether of not it is good, bad, or neither. At the root of the controversy is a basic value judgment about the human status of the fetus; does it have any rights, and should the fetus be considered a person. The question of abortion is compounded by a related issue -- the right of a woman to control her own body. First, I would like to say a few words about the legal issues of abortion. We all know that abortions were prohibited many years ago by various cultures and countries. Pregnant women, not having a choice, were forced to perform illegal abortions, sometimes done not by doctors but by herbalists. Without much of technology, they tried to induce the bleeding, scraping off the walls of the uterus in attempt to remove the fetus. As a result of internal and external bleeding, blood infection and other side effects, many women died. Not only through some historical periods, but during the twentieth century it continued to happen. Even here, in the United States, in 1969, most state laws prohibited abortion, unless the life of the pregnant woman was threatened. In the mid-1960s, the estimated death rate for abortions performed in hospitals was 3 deaths per 100,000 abortions; the rate for illegal abortions was guessed to be over eight times higher than that -- 30 deaths per 100,000 abortions was a rough estimate and almost certainly conservative. For minority and poorer women, it was certainly very much higher (statistics are taken from Moral Revolution by Kathryn Pyne Addelson, from Twenty Questions: . . .). My point is that abortions will surely continue, as they have through human history, whether we approve or disapprove or hem and haw (Barbara Ehrenreich, Is Abortion Really a Moral Dilemma? p. 425 Twenty Questions: . . .) Therefore, it is much better for abortions to take place legally and under proper medical supervision. I think that here, a person committed to utilitarian ethical theory would agree with me because according to my conclusion it would produce more amount of good for the greater number of people -- by doing abortions legally, more women could afford it and less of them would die. As a result of my little discussion, I believe that performing abortions should remain legal as it is of 1973. However, whether the issue of abortion is ethical or not, is the subject of the following discussion. In order to discuss the ethical issue of abortion, first of all, I would like to turn to and illustrate the central factors, which might lead a woman, or a married couple, to the decision concerning the termination of her pregnancy. It could be one (or a few put together) of the following circumstances: 1) a woman got pregnant due to rape; 2) the health of the woman or the unborn child was at a serious risk; 3) a woman did not plan her pregnancy; it was accidental; 4) a woman changed or was persuaded by others to change her mind about having a baby. I dont think

Causes and effects of recession in uk Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Causes and effects of recession in uk - Essay Example The causes and effects of the recession should be examined to help scholars and the local population alike come to full understanding of the worsening situation. Historically the UK has experienced recessions five times between 1974 and 1991. In recent times the economy between July and September 2008, there were signs that the UK was entering a recession when it shrank for the first time in sixteen years. In January of 2009, confirmation that the UK was in recession came from the Office for National Statistics after showing that the gross domestic product fell 1.5pc in the first quarter of 20008. Compared to the 1990s when the economy shrank in a single quarter by 1.2pc this recession is considered to be far worse. There are several causes of the recession in the UK. While the world started to experience a recession the situation in the UK was imminent especially when the United States of America started to decline. International trade is one of the factors of the UK recession. As the economic situations in countries begin to worsen trade suffers because governments in taking several precautions do not trade with other countries as they use to thus making the global recession even worse. Consequently, if imports exceed exports this will have negative effects on the trade gap as was experienced in January 2009. The trade gap went up to  £8.3bn. The Office for National Statistics reported that this was caused by falling exports to non European countries especially the United States. Exports to countries outside of the European Union fell by sixteen percent. Economists have predicted that a weaker pound would have a more positive effect but that was not proven to be so. A signal that domestic d emands for goods were also falling was evident in the figures given for the imports of goods. These imports decreased by 1.8 percent to 28.2bn pounds. The credit crunch experienced in the United States of America was soon felt in the United

Contract Law Assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Contract Law Assignment - Essay Example The above elements from are explained below. Offer and Acceptance. When one party proposes something to another, he is said to make an offer. If the party agrees to the proposal without any change in it, he is considered to have made the acceptance of that offer. Thus, when the offer is accepted in a mirror image condition, a contract is said to have been formed subject to other conditions. This mirror image rule is necessary to ensure that there is a consensus of the subject matter among the parties i.e meeting of the minds between them. In other words, the acceptor has understood clearly what the offeror has meant. This is an objective test in English law to determine existence of a contract. An offer is always confused with an invitation to treat. Advertisements and displays in shops are the examples. They are not offers but invitation to treat. An acceptance must be unqualified and correspond to what the offeror purports to convey. A qualified acceptance becomes an offer and it i s for the original offeree to accept or not, any change in the condition. If the qualified acceptance is accepted, the original offeror becomes the offeree and the qualified acceptor becomes the offeror. ... And not at the time of receipt of the letter by the offeror. If the letter is addressed incorrectly or posted improperly, postal rule will not apply. Contracts can also be concluded by fax and the Internet (Salzedo, Brunner and Ottley 2004). In Hyde v Wrench (1840) it was decided that a counter offer amounted to rejection of the original offer and therefore, subsequent acceptance of the original offer did not bind the offeree. In this case, the plaintiff made a counter offer of ? 950 against the offer of ? 1,000 by the defendant to sell his farm. On refusal of the counter offer, the plaintiff accepted the original offer of ? 1,000 which the defendant did not agree to. Therefore, the plaintiff brought a suit for specific performance. It depends on the wording of the offer and reply by the offeree. Sometimes the offeree may purport to make some enquiry in connection with the offer made including some counter price when time limit to accept the offer has not ended (Oughton and Davis, 20 00). In such cases, it cannot be taken as counter-offer or rejection of the offer as held in Stevenson, Jacques and Co v McLean (1880). In Carlil v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co (1893), the defendants advertised offering a reward to anyone who contracted influenza in spite of using their smoke ball meant to cure the disease. It was held that the advertisement was an open offer or unilateral to the whole world and hence, any one relying on the offer, bought the product was entitled to the reward if the product claim failed. The defendant’s contention that it was a mere invitation to treat was rejected. However, in Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots Cash Chemists (Southern) Ltd (1953), it was

The Bio-Psycho-Social Model of Human Behavior Simone Hoermann, Ph.D., Corinne E. Zupanick, Psy.D. Mark Dombeck, Ph.D. The Connection between General Systems Theory and Social Order Systems theory  covers a broad range of theoretical and methodological practices across many disciplines. Generally, systems theory is concerned with the structure of complex systems, with a special emphasis about how parts relate to each other and to the whole system. In the social sciences, this usually means understanding how individuals relate to each other and to their society as a whole, and the effect that social pressures have on individuals. Social Work Social workers can hold a variety of different roles. What binds them together is a core concern for improving social conditions for individuals and promoting social justice. Applied Systems Theory Social workers employ systems theory in order to understand the dynamic interrelations between individuals, families, institutions and societies. Generally, they want to identify how a system functions, what aspects of that system have a negative impact on people and understand how they can cause positive change in that system. Individuals and Families On the micro level of social work, workers use systems theory to understand the dynamics, relationships and roles within families, and how these things affect individuals therein. For instance, they want to know that parents and children are taking upon their proper responsibilities, that parents are providing for the safety of their children and that these roles are stable and beneficial to everyone involved. General systems theory at a simple level can be defined as: elements, which are in exchange, and which are bounded. These components constitute a system, which functions or operates within a field or an environment. Elements can be virtually anything you wish to label as such, the exchanges are any relationships that exist between elements, and the boundary is what you can see, hear, feel, or sense that separates from the background or environment. People learn through observing others’ behavior,  attitudes, and outcomes of those behaviors which is called observational learning, that is an indirect form of learning known as vicarious learning and indirect forms of reinforcement which is called vicarious reinforcement .Bandura renamed SLT as social cognitive theory to accommodate the ever increasing importance in his thinking of cognitive factors .SLT has also been enriched by Bandura with his views about the effects of a person’s belief in their own effectiveness in specific situations also known as self –efficacy. According to Bandura, social learning involves a few factors such as, attention where the individual must pay attention to the model and must be able to remember the behavior they have observed so basically retention per se. The observer must be able to replicate the action and must have the motivation to demonstrate what they have learnt .Although motivation to imitate behavior of a model is quite complex. As certain factors have to be taken into consideration, the observer or learner must like the model and identify with the model, as humans tend to imitate people who are like themselves. An observer is more likely to imitate a model that is consistent across situations than someone who behaves in different ways depending on the situation. Also it has been argued by Bandura that people can learn from observing others, not necessarily experiencing the consequences of these actions, themselves. Throughout this essay a detailed account with appropriate reasoning and causes of SLT will be given. What is the importance of equality, diversity and recognizing rights in early year’s services? 1. Legal having proper policies and procedures in place should prevent successful compensation payouts for proven discrimination. 2. Ethical its morally right to want to provide equal treatment to all stakeholders, especially children and parents/guardians. 3. Social children can learn to be better citizens in a culturally diverse society, if given the right orientation from the beginning. Why is equality and diversity important in a mental health profession? One could argue it isnt and that best person should always be chosen regardless as It is mainly a political ideal. However in this case there may in fact be an argument for it as follows. it may be important for those suffering mental issues to feel they are part of a wider community and having a wide selection of diversity etc. (2013, 02). Searle’s Solution to the Missing Object Problem :: Searle Philosophy Philosophical Essays

Let us imagine that to play a joke on her new friend Suzy, Jenny tells her all about her cocker spaniel. Jenny tells Suzy that her dog’s name is Sally, that Sally has long blonde hair, and that she loves to eat table scraps. The only problem is that Sally does not really exist  ¾ but Jenny doesn’t tell this to Suzy. Because of this, Suzy forms all sorts of beliefs about Jenny’s cocker spaniel. She believes that it is named Sally, that it has long blonde hair and loves to eat table scraps, and perhaps a few other beliefs. She also forms desires regarding the dog  ¾ she wants to meet Sally, to play fetch with her, and to buy her a doggie treat. Suzy, therefore, has many beliefs and desires regarding Sally the cocker spaniel  ¾ and all of this in spite of the fact that Sally does not really exist at all. In orchestrating this prank, Jenny thought she was merely playing a simple trick on her friend. But in succeeding at this, she has brought about a s ignificant philosophical dilemma. If Sally the cocker spaniel does not exist, then what are all of Suzy’s beliefs and desires about? This is the problem of â€Å"objectless directedness.† Mental states like believing and desiring are understood to be directed at things; they are intentional states, and every intentional state must have an intentional object. If I have a belief that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time, or that Bush is a good wartime President, then these are beliefs about, respectively, Michael Jordan and George Bush. If I have a desire to meet the Pope, or to have a hamburger, then these desires are directed at the Pope and a hamburger, respectively. But in Suzy’s case, the supposed intentional object of her beliefs and desires  ¾ Sally the cocker spaniel  ¾ turned out not to exist at all. So did the beliefs and desires have an intentional object at all? And if so, what was it? In addressing this problem, this paper will explicate and argue for a solution given by John Searle in his book, Intentionality. After briefly

Crash Paper

Crash displayed various aspects of racism and stereotypes that occur everyday. One of the three major scenes in the movie that stood out was when the two officers pull over a black couple. Obviously they've done nothing completely harmful, reckless or dangerous. The leading officer claims the wife was performing falatio, while driving a vehicle, which could be a form of reckless driving and can be penalized for it. In fear of authority, and in all respect, the husband complies as polite as possible to the officers demands. While doing so, the officer is responding in the rudest manor. He asks the officer if it's okay to reach in the glove department for his paperwork and the officer replies with a very suspicious â€Å"yeah nice and slow†. Now on the other hand, the other officer takes no part in what goes on next because he knows what's right and wrong, he's deemed the â€Å"good† cop. The leading officer comes back to test him if he's drunk and driving and he wasn't. C omplying with the officer once again, he did it. His wife, a little drunk, tries to explain in a firm manor that they've done nothing wrong and what he's doing is wrong.Feeling an undermining to his authority, he gets angry and as she gets out of the car to confront him he tells the couple to turn around and place their hands behind their heads. As he pats down his wife, he grabs her inappropriately and asks what should be done since what they've done can technically be seen as a crime. Coming back to complying to an authoritarian figure out of fear and recognition of authority, her husband had one of two choices; he either could've spoken up, done something about it and got arrested or kept quiet, let him do what he knew was wrong and be let off with just a warning.Thinking that he would not win over an authority figure like the cop's word, he didn't say anything and let it happen. This situation brings up â€Å"The Authoritarian Personality† from one of the theories of prej udice in which the man complied to everything the officer asked for by just being or even just looking to be an authority figure. Also, the officer shows that intolerance and aggression as one would to those who don't conform as well, as you would see in The Authoritarian Personality. There's an automatic fear that comes to people when they think of the police. It's the fact that they're given that title of an officer of the law that leaves you naive to think anything he does is ok and even though you know it's wrong sometimes, you don't have the courage to say it cause you're not supposed to. It's not the norm of society. The second scene is where two black men walk out of the restaurant and the first one is the one that blames everything bad possible on his misfortune of being black. He continues on to complain about how since he's black he had to wait a lot longer than the white people that were there being served. As he complained about what he didn't get because he was black, his friend reminds him that he didn't even want what he was complaining for and it's not cause they're both black. As his friend starts to make his case, he also reminds him that the waitress was indeed black and they weren't racially prejudice. But he goes ahead anyways to continue blaming his skin color and that the waitress presumed that since they were dressed a certain way and talked a certain way they weren't going to tip, so she waited a little longer to serve them. These are all examples of â€Å"Frustration and Scapegoating† from one of the theories of prejudice. It shows his need to blame white people for his personal shortcomings and misfortunes, such as waiting a long time to be served and being looked at as a threatening figure in society. Although, he wasn't going to tip anyways and he and his friend are car-jackers. It's crazy and ironic how he'd think that. And if there was such a stereotype, then why not beat it.To make it worse, he lived up to those same stereot ypes and continued to blame other things. In the last scene, a middle eastern family man has a business which is his only source of income. From past experience and safety reasons he tells his, more educated and literate, American daughter to buy a gun for the store's protection and his own. He orders a guy to come in and change the locks as well, but the problem happens to be the door and not the locks. He hires a technician to change the locks and he happens to be Hispanic. The Hispanic technician is a father of a five year old girl that moved out of his old neighborhood for her safety and a better upbringing. A couple days after, the two get into a fight, in which the middle eastern store owner screams at him for not changing the locks meanwhile the door is the one that needs a replacement, as the technician tries to explain. As the argument sprouts, the technician just wants his money and wants to leave but the owner doesn't pay him and in anger he leaves. The next day the store g ets torn apart, robbed and vandalized in all kinds of ways and now the store owner is left with nothing and his life is ruined. In anger and to gain vengeance, he takes the gun and directly assumes it was the lock technician that left in anger from the other day. As one of the theories of prejudice, selective perception, is portrayed here when he automatically assumes it was the Hispanic guy that talks a certain way and has visible eye-catching tattoos.Coming to an immediate conclusion that it was him, he goes to his house and asks for his money for the store and fires the blank bullet exactly when his daughter came in between. Both were left in shock, to only find out that it was a blank bullet. He had no evidence that it was him but just because he was Hispanic and looked like he would do something like that, he came to a conclusion that it was him. Ironically, the guy was the nicest man and an incredible father and proved his selective perception wrong. Assuming is a root to a ki nd of prejudice as well and this scene was a great example.
